Julie Andrews … my idol, my star, my Queen! And whose fault is it? My parents! But I’ll never thank them enough for that …

It all started when I was 3. My parents rented “Mary Poppins” to show it to me. And I didn’t appreciate. A flying nanny was too scary for me. So I didn’t watch it until the end. Now when I think about it, it cracks me up! Two years later, my beloved Grandma decided to start collecting Disney movies for me. And the very first one she bought was “Mary Poppins”. Ironic, isn’t it? Anyway, she convinced me to watch it with her, and I loved it! So much that I watched it over and over again. And I think my Grandma was a kind of Julie fun, well maybe not as much as I am today, but still she loved Julie very much! Unfortunately, she passed after about a year and a half after we’d seen “Mary Poppins” together for the first time. Each time I watch that movie, it reminds me of the great times my Grandma and I had together, and so it has a very special meaning to me.

Later, when I was 8, my Granddad showed me “The Sound Of Music”. He said that I might like it coz it was the same actress as the one who played Mary Poppins. He said that it was a very long movie, so we’d watch the first half, and the second half on another day, so I wouldn’t get bored. I immediately fell in love with the movie, so NO WAY for me to wait to see the second part!!! I watched the two parts in a row. I would watch that movie over and over again. And when I turned 17, “Victor Victoria” was on tv. The storyline didn’t attract me very much at first, but I decided to watch it anyway coz it starred Julie Andrews. Gee that movie made me laugh like hell!!! I was like “OMG Julie’s more than a sweet nanny!!!”. It was THE click. I started searching for information about her on the Internet, and in the cinema encyclopedias I have inherit from my Grandma (she was a Hollywood lover!). So I discovered Julie’s incredibly long filmography and I saw more and more of her movies. And my passion for her hasn’t stop growing ever since … same for my Julie collection lol. I spent so much on her, but more than worth it!

And on November 30th, 2005, my craziest dream came true. I met her (see the “Our Dream Came True” section). Even better than that, I talked to her! Well sorta, coz I was about to pass out! A moment I’ll NEVER EVER forget.

Tout a comencé quand j’avais trois ans. Mes parents ont loué « Mary Poppins » pour me le montrer. Et je n’ai pas vraiment apprécié. Une nounou qui vole, bien trop effrayant pour moi. Je ne l’ai donc pas vu jusque la fin. Maintenant, quand j’y repense, ça me fait marrer ! Deux ans plus tard, ma Mamy adorée a décidé de commencé à me faire une collection de films Disney. Et, ironie du sort, le premier qu’elle m’a acheté était « Mary Poppins ». EEElle m’a convaincue de le regarder avec elle, et j’ai adoré ! Tellement que je l’ai regardé encore et encore. Et je pense que ma Mamy elle-même était un peu fan de Julie,,, peut-être pas autant que je le suis aujourd ‘hui, mais elle l’aimait beaucoup. Malheureusement, elle nous a quittés un an et demi plus tard, alors que je n’avais pas encore sept ans. A chaque fois que je regarde « Mary Poppins », ça me rappelle ma Mamy et les merveilleux moments que nous avons passés ensemble. Et c’est pourquoi ce film est très spécial pour moi.

Plus tard, quand j’avais huit ans, mon Papy m’a fait voir « La Mélodie du Bonheur ». Il m’a dit qu’il y avait beaucoup de chances que j’aime ce film, car l’actrice principale est celle qui a interprété Mary Poppins. Il m’a aussi dit que c’était un long film, et que donc nous allions regarder seulement la première moitié, et nous regarderions la seconde partie un autre jour, comme ça ça ne m’ennuierait pas. J’ai immédiatement adoré le film, et il n’était PAS QUESTION pour moi d’attendre plusieurs jours pour voir la suite, alors nous avons tout regardé en une seule fois. Et je l’ai regardé encore et encore. Lorsque j’ai eu 17 ans, « Victor Victoria » est passé à la télé. Ce genre de film ne m’attirait pas trop, et ça ne me disait rien de le voir, mais je l’ai regardé parce que j’avais lu que Julie jouait dedans. Et ce film m’a fait rire, rire, rire à me rouler par terre !!! Et je me suis dit « Oh mon Dieu, Julie sait jouer bien plus qu’une gentille nounou !!! ». Ca a été LE déclic. J’ai commencé à chercher des informations sur Julie sur Internet, et dans les encyclopédies sur le cinéma que j’avais hérité de ma Mamy (c’était une passionée de cinéma et d’Hollywood). C’est ainsi que j’ai découvert la très longue filmographie de Julie,,, et que j’ai pu voir de plus en plus de ses films. Et ma passion n’a pas arrêté de grandir depuis … tout comme ma collection Julie lol. J’ai dépensé tellement pour elle, mais ça en vaut la peine!

Et le 30 novembre 2005, mon rêve le plus fou est devenu réalité. Je l’ai rencontrée (voir la section « Notre rêve s’est réalisé »). Encore mieux que cela, je lui ai parlé ! Enfin, en quelque sorte lol, c’est plutôt elle qui m’az parlé, mais j’étais à la limite de l’évanouissement. Un moment que je n’oublierai JAMAIS.
